Segun Awolowo, grandson of Awolowo dies at 63

An unconfirmed reports says Segun Awolowo, the only son of Abah Folawiyo and grandson of the late statesman Chief Obafemi Awolowo, has passed away.

This is according to an unconfirmed report  by Street Journal this evening.

A prominent lawyer, he previously served as the Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, where he played a significant role in promoting Nigeria’s non-oil export sector.

Born on September 27, 1963, Segun Awolowo came into the world two months after the tragic death of his father, Segun Awolowo Sr., who died in a car accident along the old Ibadan–Lagos road at age 25.

In July 2021, he was unanimously elected President of the National Trade Promotion Organizations, TPOs, representing ECOWAS member states, reflecting his influence and leadership in trade development across West Africa.
