Kanu sentenced to life imprisonment
…to be kept in protective custody,denied access to phone,digital devices
Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court,Abuja has sentenced to life imprisonment under protective custody.
Justice Omotoso remarked that having convicted Kanu he deserved to be given maximum of death penalty nut quoting from Matt 23:23 he choose to show mercy.
The judge also remarked that throughout the period of trial,the convict was corky ,arrogant and unruly yo the point of slapping his counsel in court.
Speaking further Justice Omotoso found Kanu guilty on counts 1,2,4,6 which carried death penalty and count 3 and seven which carried ten months imprisonment.
He said further that the accused should not be kept in Kuje Prison but in any place that fits the nature of his offence against the country.
Said he,”throughout the trial he was corky, arrogant unruly and does not show any sense of remorse for what he has done.

“He should be kept in the facility that is suitable for his crime hence Kuje prison is not suitable.
In his remark Chief Adegboyega Awomolo counsel to the prosecution urged Nigerians to respect the law of the country and know that the country is bigger than everybody.
In his remarks Ejiofor ,Lanus lawyer turned consultant indicated the interest of his client to appeal the verdict to the highest court of the land.
This marks the end of the celebrated case which started ten years ago.
