Stipend Message: Beware of scammers, Lagos APC Warns Public
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a message circulating on social media and other platforms requesting ethnic coordinators and members of various groups to submit personal details, including banking and identification information, under the pretext of “stipend payments.”
In a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the APC described the message as false, fraudulent, and mischievous, stressing that neither its State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, nor any organ of the party issued such a directive.

“The Lagos APC does not conduct its affairs through indiscriminate collection of sensitive data such as BVN, NIN, or voter cards, nor do we distribute stipends in the manner suggested,” Oladejo said.
He noted that the message was the handiwork of scammers seeking to exploit unsuspecting individuals and tarnish the image of the party. The party urged members of the public, especially APC members across all groups and ethnic platforms, to disregard the fraudulent communication.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any official communication from the Lagos APC will be disseminated only through established party structures, verified channels, and authorised spokespersons. Members are strongly advised not to share their personal or financial information with unknown persons under any circumstances,” the statement added.
The Lagos APC also called on security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and integrity in all its operations.
