Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly stormed the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and arrested some youths suspected to be internet fraudsters.

It was gathered that EFCC operatives carried out the raid on Sunday morning during a nighttime gathering at the hotel section of the OOPL, which belongs to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo’s pent-house residence is located within the sprawling Library modelled after the first American Presidential Library established by 32nd American President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

A viral video showed how some youths scampered for safety during the operation.
The operatives reportedly arrested a number of youths and seized “more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items.”

An official of EFCC told Daily Trust that the operation was carried out by the EFCC operatives from the Lagos Directorate.

The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident.

“We received the same information and we are looking into what really happened. So, we are trying to find out from them (EFCC) what really happened.

“I don’t have additional information. As soon as we have it I will let you know,” he told our correspondent.

When asked if they were EFCC operatives, he responded: “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.”

When contacted, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, promised to confirm and get back to our correspondent.
