The exhibition took place at Yenwa Art Gallery in Lagos, Nigeria, from 1st to 5th August 2025. It marks another important phase in Samson Oriyomi’s artistic journey.
“Fragments of the Unseen* is a visual exploration of the hidden stories that exist beyond the surface of everyday life. This body of work seeks to capture moments, emotions, and details that often go unnoticed, those quiet fragments that silently shape our experiences and perceptions.
Through his lens, Samson Oriyomi reveals beauty in the overlooked, from the play of light and shadow to subtle expressions, broken textures, and fleeting movements. Each image forms part of a larger narrative, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and discover meaning beyond what is immediately visible.
Light and shadow play a significant role in this work. Light reveals while shadow conceals, creating a delicate balance between what is seen and what remains hidden. This interplay serves as a visual metaphor for human perception, showing how we often focus only on what is illuminated while deeper truths remain in the shadows waiting to be discovered.
Beyond physical elements, Fragments of the Unseen also explores emotional and psychological spaces. It reflects the inner lives of individuals, the feelings rarely expressed, the silent struggles people endure, and the beauty found in vulnerability. A simple glance, a posture, or an isolated moment can carry profound meaning when carefully observed.
These images capture such emotional fragments and offer insight into what words often fail to convey.
The project challenges viewers to reconsider their understanding of reality. It suggests that what we perceive at first glance is only a fraction of the whole. True meaning exists in the details, in the margins, and in the spaces between what is obvious. By slowing down and paying closer attention, the richness within ordinary moments becomes more visible.
According to Samson Oriyomi, the work speaks deeply to human emotions, unspoken thoughts, silent struggles, and the inner worlds people carry. By focusing on these unseen aspects, the project creates a connection between subject and viewer, encouraging empathy and deeper awareness.

As the exhibition concluded, it left a lasting impression on audiences, many of whom described the work as thoughtful, powerful, and deeply reflective.
