The Falcons it will be recalled by given $100000 cash it by the Federal Government for winning the WAFCON Cup for a record ten times.
Adeboye spoke Sunday at the monthly Thanksgiving service held at the Church headquarters.
According to Adeboye, since coaches are the ones who put the Falcons through it is necessary to accord them same recognition adding, “if the coaches didn’t tutor and train them well they wouldn’t have emerged victorious”.
Adeboye also likened the victory of the Falcons to wisdom of extensive coaching and dedication compared them to legendary boxer late Mohammed Ali who earlier in life defeated Sony Liston in the World heavyweight boxing category when nobody thought he could survive the tournament.
He likened wining a game or race to use of Wisdom as contained in Proverbs 4:7 saying application of wisdom by then Casius Clay who later changed his name to Mohammed Ali brought him victory.
“Nobody thought Casius Clay could match Sony Liston but, “he used wisdom to wear out Liston by taunting him in the ring such that Liston became furious and made mistakes which enable Clay to wear him out and defeat him. ”
Speaking further, Adeboye counseled all believers who want to achieve success to adopt wisdom which is the correct application of knowledge to become victorious citing Ecclesiastic 9:16,10:10.
The second tool he mentioned is a good coach who will drive players to achieve success like Alis coach who he said prepared him by making sure he trained hard to achieve victory.
Pastor Adeboye also cited the feat his school University of Nigeria Nsukka used to attain victory in the first Nigeria University Games,NUGA,in 1965.
“Our coach prepared us by ensuring we practised for 180 minutes for a game that lasted 90 minutes adding that their victory in the final was made possible by the extra mile the coach took them which made them defeat their opponent when the game stretched to extra time by which time,their opponents has become tired.
Adeboye who was once a boxer advised sportsmen to protect their weak points adding,”if a boxer suffers an injury his opponent would aim to hit him there in order to defeat him during the bout.
Lastly,the General Overseer said everybody who want to excel needs a divine touch of God quoting Eccle 9:11..the race is not always to the swift, the way to the top is not always the brightest..
