Edo State commuters can anticipate improved transportation choices as the new Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. is scheduled to begin operations June 27, 2025.
This declaration was issued by Governor Monday Okpebholo while inspecting current projects in Edo South. Governor Okpebholo, who evaluated the advancements at the New Edo Line station, voiced contentment with the arrangements.
He stated, “I’ve merely arrived to observe the activities happening here at the New Edo Line station. The cars are prepared”.
“All is prepared. We are exploring ways to begin. The intention is to come and assess the extent of our commencement preparations”.
Oligbe Henshaw, the Managing Director of the Edo State Transport Authority, confirmed the terminal’s preparedness.
“This is the terminal for the New Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. Through the special grace of God, we will officially start operations on the 27th of June this year,” Henshaw stated.
He also confirmed that current projects at the terminal, such as partitioning, CCTV setup, and the control room, would be finished by next week Friday.
In addition to the new transport line, Governor Okpebholo’s inspection included other essential infrastructure projects.
He went to Sapele Road, a key federal route linking Edo and Delta States, where he encouraged the contractor to speed up progress to ease ongoing traffic issues.
Li Ou Fu, CEO of CBC Group, responsible for the Sapele Road project, pledged to finish the urgent concerns section of the road in two weeks, responding to the governor’s request for swift action.
The Governor’s tour also included inspections of the Temboga Road and the Palace Road, underscoring his administration’s commitment to improving road networks across the state.
The Edo Line is expected to greatly enhance both inter-city and intra-city transportation, providing travellers with a new and better experience.
