The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk, has urged Muslims to extend charity to the less privileged throughout the Holy month of Ramadan.

The Emir made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday at his palace in Daura.

He enjoined the Muslims faithful to use the Ramadan period to move closer to Allah by engaging in good deeds and supplications for forgiveness as well as prayers for peace and development of the state and the country in general.

“Fasting fosters self-discipline and reminds Muslims to act in ways that please Allah. This mindfulness helps believers strengthen their connection with their Creator.

“I appeal to the well meaning individuals amongst us to assist the vulnerable and poor people with food and other items during Ramadan,” the emir said.

He congratulated the Muslim faithful for witnessing another glorious month of Ramadan, adding that such privilege should be used to foster peaceful co-existence among religious groups in the state and Nigeria at large.

In a related development, the Chairman of Daura Local Government, Alhaji Bala Musa, has also called on the Muslims to foster good neighbourliness and extend kindness to the needy during Ramadan.

He said that fasting period should serve as a time for reflection, prayers and care for one another. (NAN)
