UBE Teachers employed by Rivers State Government in June 2023, said they will hold a Peaceful March tomorrow, Thursday, 27th February, 2025 and invites social media influencers, journalists, security agencies and the general public to support the Peaceful March

The Teachers who said they collected Appointment Letters, attended Trainings, received Posting SMS but are yet to start work, begs Rivers State Governor, Sir Sim Fubara and UBE Chairman, Dr. David Briggs, to allow them start work, as some of them resigned earlier from their jobs and things are very hard for them.

The engaged workers who are planning to stage a peaceful protest Thursday 27th February 2025 says they are truly suffering despite all the assurances made the Rivers state government officials in the past yet nothing has happened for them to start work fully.

Speaking with some Representatives of the Engaged UBE Teachers, Benson Abiye, and Orwhonda Chris said they were given employment letters since two years ago, and non of them are currently working anywhere, with no salary to back up their letters and posting and most of them are facing extreme hunger, haven terminated their previous employments, with the hopes of starting a new one with the Government.

They lamented that even before the state government announced employment of Health workers who have all been employed and deployed are on government payroll, while they are still holding unto letters without pay.

The teachers said they met with the Commissioner of Education and that of Information as well as UBE Chairman several times, since 2023 till date, all to no avail.
