Rivers State govt. flags- off Anthrax vaccination campaign

As part of efforts to protect livestock and ensure food security and public health, the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture, has flagged off the Anthrax Vaccination Campaign.

 

The flag-off was held at the Livestock Demonstration Farms located in the Rivers State University RSU, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Monday.

 

 

It highlighted the importance of proactive animal healthcare, as the first round of the vaccine was administered to the available livestock.

 

The ceremony was attended by farmers, stakeholders, and veterinary experts.

 

The seven days free vaccination would run from Monday, February 10, to Monday 17, 2025, is aimed at preventing the outbreak of anthrax in the state.

 

 

The state ministry of agriculture encouraged all livestock farmers to participate in safeguarding their animals and environment.

 

The ministry also commended the governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for what it described as his continuous dedication and efforts in providing security measures for food across the state.

 

It further affirmed that together the state can build a healthier and safer agricultural sector.

 

 

Report revealed that Anthrax can be spread from infected animals to humans after contact with infected objects.
