Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has been released from a UK prison and returned to Nigeria.

According to reports, she arrived in the country on Tuesday and is currently in Abuja.

Beatrice was sentenced to six years in prison by a UK court for her involvement in organ harvesting, along with her husband and Dr. Obeta

The court found them guilty of attempting to buy a kidney from a young Nigerian boy to donate to their daughter Sophia.

Senator Ekweremadu received a 10-year prison sentence, while Dr. Obeta’s sentence was not specified.

The case marked the first conviction under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act
