As part of her efforts toward the promotion of Nigerian Cultural Identity globally, the CEO and Founder of Arivla, Dr. Ivy Okike-Fatusin has employed her fashion knowledge to bridge the gap between tradition and modern fashion
Okike-Fatusin made the revelation at the Arivla Asoebi fashion show designed to promote Nigerian identity with the theme : “Old money Vs New Money” and held recently at The Podium, Lagos.
The colourful event not only honored Nigerian fashion and culture but also created a vibrant space for fashion lovers, industry leaders, and creatives to connect, celebrate, and be inspired.
According to Okike-Fatusin, the vision at Arivla is to make Nigerian cultural fashion a global sensation, and this event is a reflection of that. We are thrilled to bring fashion lovers and creators together in an evening that highlighted the elegance of Asoebi and the vibrancy of Nigerian culture.
The event served as the official opening night of Arivla’s platform, with the strategy to disrupt the market with a unique approach; making Nigerian fashion accessible to all. With the focus that connected indigenous creatives with fashion lovers, Arivla is gaining recognition as a centre for bespoke designs and indigenous fabric.
“The distinction between old money and new money reflects deeper societal values and aesthetic preferences. Old money, associated with long-standing wealth and a more understated sense of elegance, favors traditional fabrics such as Ankara, lace, and silk, showcasing intricate patterns and classic silhouettes. In contrast, new money embraces innovation, boldness, and global influences, leading to the integration of luxurious materials and contemporary designs.
The Asoebi Party and Fashion Show marked the official opening of Arivla’s platform, which is dedicated to promoting Nigerian culture and fashion globally.
Arivla is an e-commerce platform focused on showcasing Nigeria’s cultural heritage through fashion.
