PortHarcourt Refinery Complex: NNPCL explains challenges in commencement of operation

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPCL,has been explaining difficulties and challenges it faced in its bid to commence operations.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer,Olufemi Soneye identified several risk factors and challenges among which are the complex nature of the project.

He noted that essential equipment and processing units’ commissioning began following the mechanical completion of the refinery in Nigeria.

“You may recall that mechanical completion of the PHRC revamp was successfully achieved several months ago, marking a significant milestone in the project. After this, we initiated the commissioning of critical equipment and process units,” Soneye stated.

“However, as is common with brownfield projects of this scale and complexity, we encountered unforeseen risks and challenges. These issues have since been effectively resolved, and commissioning activities have resumed.”

Soneye assured that work is being carried out around the clock to ensure the successful completion of this vital project. When asked about the timeline for completion, he responded, “Shortly.”
