Helicopter crash: Fate of eight NNPC workers unknown

The Fate of the eight Passengers on board a helicopter carrying personnel from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) which crashed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Thursday remains unknown.

In a statement, NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye confirmed that the helicopter, operated by East Wind Aviation, had been contracted by NNPC Limited.
The incident occurred at 11:22 a.m. along the waterways of Port Harcourt.

The helicopter, a Sikorsky SK76 with registration number 5NBQG, had taken off from the Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) and was en route to the FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN oil rig when the accident happened.

Odutayo Oluseyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, confirmed that there were eight individuals on board at the time of the crash. Further details about the condition of the passengers or cause of the crash have yet to be disclosed. Investigations are ongoing.
