Consul-General of South Africa in Lagos, Nigeria, Prof Bobby Moroe has urged government at all levels to initiate mentorship programmes that can help harness talented youths in the creative industry that would make them acquire the new global format.

Moroe disclosed this at the just concluded Business of Entertainment Conference held in Lagos organized by the African Creative Market (ACM) with the theme: Monetizing your Art and Ideas.

According to Moroe, the entertainment industry in Africa is experiencing significant growth and transformation, driven by a combination of cultural richness, technological advancements, and increasing global interest. To harness this potential, it is essential to develop policies and infrastructure that support the industry.

Also, the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Obi Asika, said it would provide more opportunities for all Nigerian talents. So we can tell our stories by ourselves the way it ought to be in the global stage.

Asika stated that NCAC’s has solidifies its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s cultural heritage and providing platforms for emerging talents.

Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Dr. Shaibu Husseini emphasized the need for government to Develop modern cinemas and performance spaces across urban and rural areas to increase access to films, theater, and concerts.

He stressed how the plight of insecurity, among other challenges have affected the Business of Entertainment.

 

On his part, the Co- founder of the Africa Creative Market, Dr. Bada Akintunde-Johnson said the Africa Creative Market continues to evolve, it serves as a global stage where Africa’s creative entrepreneurs can shine, capturing the attention of a diverse and discerning audience.

Akintunde- Johnson said that the gathering not only celebrates the richness and diversity of African creativity but also offers a gateway to lucrative and fulfilling ventures for both local and international investors.

 

“The Africa Creative Market (ACM) 3rd edition is dedicated to strengthening Africa’s creative ecosystem for profitability, sustainability, and global recognition.

“The platform offers a wide range of opportunities and support for creatives in the region, including training programmes, investment opportunities, networking and access to trade finance.

DG/CEO, Rivers State Tourism Development Agency, Yibo Koko recommended developing initiatives that provide resources and support to marginalized groups within the entertainment industry.

Partner & Head – General Practice Group Olajide Oyewole LLP, Sandra Oyewole spoke on the protection of intellectual property and guidance. With Emphasis on patent right, copyright and trademark.

Oyewole admonished artist not to sign an agreement, contract or endorsement without having the guidance of a legal practitioner.

Meanwhile, Chukwuebuka Emmanuel (Brain Jotter) shared his success story and encouraged content creators and artists in attendance to be persistent.
