Barely few days after President Bola Tinubu unfolded plans to convoke a National Youth Conference ,Afenifere-leading Yoruba cultural group and General Isola Williams,frmr Secretary of Transparency International,have aired dissenting views on such a confab.
While National Organising Secretary of Afenifere,Abagun Kole Omololu welcome the decision saying it will allow the Youths to air their views on changes they want in the polity,Williams raised issues on the age group which constitutes youth in the country.
He told Newdawnngr.com that while the United Nations consider ages of 16-23 as Youths, Nigeria acceot 35 Years old persons as youth.
Besides,Williams Who has often called for a National conference to address the countrys Challenges and find ways to address it .
He also expressed reservations on lack of details and modalities of the conference being planned.

As for him,most of those Who represent the Youths in the recognised rganisations like National Association of Nigerian Students,NANS and Others are “hustlers Who are merely looking for wgatbthdy can get from the system.
However,in his own opinion,Omololu said the conference is an opportunity for the Tinubu administration to hear from the Youths..”the real Youths Who are true Representatives of Nigerian Youths”.
Omololu however did not described the age group of category of the Youths that should be selected to participate in the confab.

He Also feels that Youths who gathered for such conference should discuss on changes they want in the polity and Nigeria as a whole.

It will be recalled that, President Tinubu,in Tuesday October 1st on the anniversary of the country’s 64th independent informed the Nation of his desire to convoke a National Youth Conference to enable the Youths contribute to National discourse and Chart a way forward for the country.
