Asks Nigerians to avoid panic buying
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, has assured Nigerians that fuel products will be available across the country by the weekend.
Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima, Lokpobiri emphasized the government’s commitment to alleviating the current fuel scarcity.
“We were summoned by the Vice President, who was directed by Mr. President to call this meeting,” Lokpobiri stated.
“The President is empathetic about the hardship Nigerians are facing, and that was why he directed the Vice President to convene this meeting.”
Lokpobiri highlighted the importance of ensuring product availability nationwide, expressing confidence that the supply situation would improve significantly by the weekend.
He also noted that while prices may vary across different locations, the government is not involved in price regulation, as the sector is deregulated.
