Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote group, has disclosed that the 650,000 bpd refinery will ensure the availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, in Nigeria.

Dangote made this promise while addressing the press during the official rollout of petrol from the refinery on Tuesday.

It will be recalled that on Monday that Devakumar Edwin, the Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, has announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) will become the sole buyer of products from Dangote Refinery as it begins production.

According to Africa’s billionaire businessman, the nation’s oil company would decide petrol pump prices as the sole buyer from the refinery.

Describing the development as a turnaround for the country after many years of not producing a single litre of petrol, Dangote noted that he can guarantee the availability of products from the refinery while the NNPCL controls pricing.

Asked to speak on the pricing of petrol from his refinery, Dangote said, “It is an arrangement which is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Pricing is controlled by NNPC. We wait for now. Ours is to ensure that products are available…..that is what I can guarantee you.

“As soon as it is finalised, which he (Tinubu) is pushing, once we finish with NNPC, it can be today, it can be tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market,” he said.
