The Nigeria Police says it has arrested 2,726 suspects involved in high-profile criminal cases all over the country within the last month.
The arrests, part of a broader effort to ensure public safety, have led to the recovery of 150 firearms, 1,788 rounds of ammunition, and the rescue of 207 kidnapped victims.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
This decisive action, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, showcases the Force’s relentless dedication to combating crime and delivering justice.

The suspects, who have confessed to various crimes including armed robbery and kidnapping, were paraded before the media, marking a significant step in the ongoing battle against criminal elements in Nigeria.

One of the notable cases involved Hauwa Yusuf, a 30-year-old woman from Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State. She was intercepted while traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. A search of the vehicle revealed an AK-47 rifle and four magazines concealed inside a sack of garri. Upon interrogation, Yusuf confessed to transporting the weapons on behalf of a notorious bandit operating in Katsina State.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens. He called on the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that could lead to the apprehension of more criminal elements.
The police’s recent success sends a strong message that criminal activities will not be tolerated, and the Force remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security across the nation.
