A call has gone to Governors in the Six South West state’s of Lagos,Ogun,Osun,Ekiti,Oyo and Ondo to revive the Agriculture potentials of the region as as it was done during the first republic.

Speaking in an exclusive Interview with Newdawnngr.com,
Fasanmi,son of late APC leader,Ayo Fasanmi,Folabi Fasanmi, said the region has no business being in lack of abundant Food supply to feed  its growing population.

Said he,”It is embarassing that the region has to depend on the North to buy cows,tomatoes,
pepper and even yan to consume when we have thousands of graduates and unemployed Youths that can be encouraged to go into mechanised farming to feed the populace”.

He added that it is strange that a region that has several universites chunning out thousands of graduates in Agricultural Engineering,Fishery and Aquaculture,Crop Science yet had problem of unemployment when there is enough land to practise what they were taught..
“These are Youths that have been taught the rudiments ofodern Agricultural techniques.They have no business roaming the street sa after graduating from a the University” he declared.

He challenged the governors to develop a robust blue print that will encourage a return to the farm in the region adding that this could be done through irrestible incentives and workable Loan to farmers.

He also commended the Supreme Court ruling on Autonomy for local government,a ruling he said is long overdue and necessary to guarrantee and establish indepedence of local governments.

Fasanmi,a one time Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu while he was Governor of Lagos lamented that the President has done much but his achievements are not being given enough awareness it deserves.

According to him,there must be engagements of stakeholders through regular updates on progress and challenges encountered in the Task to reposition the country.
