Ogunleye:Egba has lost a great promoter and advocate of peace-Odofin of Egba

Odofin of Egbaland, Chief Kolawole Akintoye has described Oba Olufemi Ogunleye as a committed warrior for the unity, peace and progress among all sections of Egbaland. (Origun mererin Egba).
In a tribute to the late monarch,Chief Akintoye recalled that Oba Ogunleye started his chieftaincy journey with his first title as Apagun Apomu Owu and later as Ekerin Apagun of Egbaland during the reign of Oba Oyebade Lipede.
According to the Odofin Egba, this spirited vanguard to foster unity and progress in Egbaland was spearheaded by late Chief Oluwole Olumide, the first Apagunpote of Egbaland with Oba Ogunleye as his closest lieutenant and aide.
“I vividly remember the sacrifices and roles played by Oba Ogunleye during the launch of the Egba United Society in London in 1994 which was chaired by late Oba Lipede” Oba Ogunleye worked closely and tirelessly with the Egba United Society (UK and Ireland) in shipping of desk computers, sets of Encyclopedia Brittanica to Abeokuta for free distribution among secondary schools.

He was a close associate of Oba Oyebade Lipede and was always around to facilitate his annual travels to Europe.
In remembering and immortalising Oba Ogunleye, we must not forget his firm belief in unity and progress ” lorigun mererin Egba”…
Odofin described Oba Ogunleye’s exit as the loss of great promoter and advocate for peace, unity and progress amongst all peoples of Egbaland.
