How man crashed  Car while using phone daughter,other sustain injuries

It was a miraculous escape for a Three-year-old girl who sustain injuries as her father crashed the car while using phone.

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority responded swiftly to the collision on Gbagada Bridge heading towards Gbagada Expressway, Lagos.

In the accident, which occurred at 6pm on Sunday, the operatives rescued a three-year-old girl and four others.

Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, verified that the rescued individuals were promptly taken to Gbagada General Hospital by LASTMA officials and Lagos State Ambulance Service personnel.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Benz car (JJJ 219 XU) lost control while using a mobile phone and collided with a Volkswagen commercial bus (APP 46 GZ) parked on the roadside for battery repair.

Adebayo confirmed that the three-year-old girl sustained a head injury, while the four others, including the commercial bus driver, suffered fractures in various parts of their bodies.

Adebayo said: “LASTMA personnel apprehended the driver of the Benz car (JJJ 219 XU) immediately and handed him over to police officers from Alonge Police Station at Oworonsoki, present at the accident scene.

 

“LASTMA personnel promptly cleared the two vehicles from the expressway to ensure smooth traffic flow on Gbagada Bridge towards Gbagada Expressway.”

Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, extended sympathies to the injured victims and stressed the importance of safety, urging all motorists, including commercial bus drivers, to avoid phone use while driving and refrain from speeding during journeys within or outside Lagos.
