Fine art photographer Orisakwe Emmanuel Chizitere has successfully concluded his solo exhibition, Where Light Remembers, at RELE Gallery, Ikoyi, Lagos, following four days of meaningful engagement, critical appreciation, and enthusiastic audience response.

Held from April 12–15, 2024, the exhibition drew art collectors, photographers, curators, creatives, cultural stakeholders, students, and art enthusiasts who gathered to experience Chizitere’s latest body of work exploring memory, identity, and the enduring language of light.
The exhibition transformed RELE Gallery into a contemplative space where photography became a vehicle for emotional storytelling and introspection. Through a carefully curated collection of striking images, Chizitere invited viewers to reflect on the moments that shape human existence and the memories that continue to illuminate our lives long after they have passed.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors engaged deeply with the works, sparking conversations around personal history, cultural memory, belonging, and the transformative power of visual art. Many attendees described the experience as emotionally moving, intellectually stimulating, and visually unforgettable.
For Chizitere, the exhibition represented a significant milestone in his artistic journey, showcasing a mature body of work that demonstrates both technical mastery and conceptual depth.
“Where Light Remembers was created from a desire to explore the invisible threads that connect memory, emotion, and identity,” said Chizitere. “Seeing audiences connect with the work in such personal ways has been incredibly rewarding and reinforces the importance of photography as a medium for reflection and dialogue.”
The success of the exhibition further highlights the growing influence of contemporary African photography on the global art landscape. Through his distinctive visual language, Chizitere continues to contribute to important conversations about storytelling, preservation, and the evolving role of photography in contemporary culture.
Hosted by RELE Gallery, one of Africa’s foremost contemporary art institutions, the exhibition underscored the gallery’s commitment to supporting innovative artistic voices and fostering meaningful cultural exchange.
As the final visitors departed and the gallery doors closed, Where Light Remembers left behind more than a collection of photographs—it left a lasting impression. The exhibition served as a reminder that art has the power not only to capture moments but also to preserve emotions, challenge perspectives, and inspire connection.
With this successful presentation, Orisakwe Emmanuel Chizitere continues to establish himself as one of the exciting emerging voices in contemporary fine art photography, with audiences eagerly anticipating his future projects and exhibitions.
