Orisakwe Emmanuel Chizitere is proud to present Where Light Remembers, a solo exhibition by fine art photographer Orisakwe Emmanuel Chizitere, opening on April 12, 2024, and running through April 15, 2024, at its Ikoyi gallery space in Lagos.

In this compelling exhibition, Chizitere unveils a new body of photographic work that investigates the intimate relationship between light and memory, inviting audiences to reflect on how experiences, emotions, and histories are preserved long after the moments themselves have passed.
Through masterfully composed images that balance shadow, illumination, and silence, Where Light Remembers challenges viewers to consider photography not merely as documentation, but as a medium capable of capturing the invisible dimensions of human existence. Each work becomes a visual archive of remembrance, exploring themes of identity, belonging, resilience, and personal transformation.
At the heart of the exhibition is a profound question: What remains after a moment has gone? Chizitere’s photographs offer a contemplative response, revealing how light continues to carry traces of stories, emotions, and memories that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
“Light has the extraordinary ability to reveal what is hidden and preserve what might otherwise be forgotten,” says Chizitere. “Where Light Remembers is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the moments that continue to live within us.”
Recognized for his distinctive artistic vision and emotionally charged imagery, Chizitere has emerged as an important voice within contemporary African photography. His work consistently explores the intersection of memory, human experience, and visual storytelling, creating photographs that resonate across cultures and generations.
Hosted by RELE Gallery one of Africa’s leading platforms for contemporary art the exhibition promises an immersive experience for collectors, curators, art enthusiasts, scholars, and members of the public seeking meaningful engagement with contemporary photographic practice.
