He was one of those hired by the then military government to weaken the resolve for the validation of the June 12 election of 1993.

NPO Reports learnt he died in Ibadan the Oyo State Capital on Friday.

It was gathered that Davies, who died at 67, didn’t give any sign of medical complications as he played golf with friends at the Ibadan Golf Club on Thursday.
At the height of the agitation fir the deannulment in 1993,Davies held a press conference in Ikeja where he confessed his ignomous role in the annulment and later fled the country.

It will be recalled that two days to the June 12 election which was won by the late Moshood Olawale Abiola, ABN led by Nzeribe had procured a court order to stop the election from going ahead.

It was believed that the campaigners were working with the regime of former military dictator Ibrahim Babangida.

In an interview Davies granted Premium Times, Davies had confessed how the group was purposely set up to frustrate the election of Abiola.
Abiola later declared himself the winner and was arrested. He later died in detention.
