Former Ogun state governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun has described the demise of late Abimbola Ogunbanjo as the extinguishing of a shinning light.

In a condolence message ,he regretted that the scion of the Ogunbanjo family left barely two months after demise of his late father,an icon and a cherished son of the state.
Full statement below:
I am still in a state of shock since the terrifying news of the death of Abimbola Ogunbanjo, an illustrious indigene of Erunwon, Ijebu, Ogun State from the Chris Ogunbanjo Clan, filtered in from the border of California-Nevada, United States on Saturday.

I am extremely pained that Abimbola would die so soon and in such circumstances, coming barely two months after his father, Papa Chris Ogunbanjo, a respected and cherished icon of Ogun State, was buried.

As painful and sad as his death could be, we take solace in the fact that life is transient, as everyone will surely die at the appointed time. With his death, a shining light has been quenched and a blossoming career cut short; the Bamofin of Erunwon Ijebu has taken a bow when we need him most.

Abimbola Ogunbanjo was a man of notable accomplishments who made our dear state proud through his meritorious law career and contributions to the development of the Nigeria capital markets. Arguably, these feats culminated in his being conferred with the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), for his meritorious career.

Our dear nation will not forget the efforts of Abimbola Ogunbanjo to reposition the capital markets, particularly during the post covid-19 era when he served as the Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, (NGX Group) from 2021 to 2022.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, siblings, and the Ogunbanjo family as they mourn his shocking loss. May the good Lord grant him eternal rest and give everyone the fortitude to bear the loss.

Fare Thee Well dear Abimbola.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA
Governor, Ogun State (2011-2019)
