The general council of Owu Obas in the whole of Yoruba, South West,Nigeria has approved that Akinale,an Owu settlements near Abeokuta to be the host of the 5th meeting of Owu Obas.
This is contained in a statement and Notice by the paramount ruler of the ancient Owu settlement,Towulade of Akinale,Oba Olufemi Ogunleye,Towulade 1.
He said the decisions was arrived at the 4th Royal Union of Owu Obas,RUOB,meeting held at Owu Isin,Kwara state.

NOTICE TO ALL OWU OBAS
My Royal Greetings.
I write you with happiness to inform you that the Royal Union of Owu Obas, RUOB, comprising of Obas in all Owu cities and towns in Yorubaland at the conclusion of the 4th meeting at Owu Isin, Kwara State, has approved AKINALE in the OWU EWEKORO ZONE of Ogun State, to host the 5th meeting of the Owu Obas on Sunday April 14, 2024.

To say this decision is epoch is an understatement considering the history of Akinale as a premier settlement of our forebears after their arrival in Abeokuta from the war torn Orile Owus in late 17th century.
An addendum to the significance of Akinale in Owu history in Abeokuta is evident in the town being the first, among the recipients of Owu Crown from Olowu’s Palace, Abeokuta, on October 31st 2006 as a mark of honour for their Owu progenitors.
