A 45 years old, Electrician,Mr Romanus Onwosi, has been reportedly electrocuted at Oferekpe Inyimagu, the home town of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
A stakeholder from the area, told Daily Sun that the father of three children climbed one of the high-tension poles belonging to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), to rectify electricity problems bedevilling the community, but, unfortunately, he died in the process.
“Before Mr. Onwosi climbed the electricity pole, I exchanged greetings with him, but some seconds later, I heard people wailing at the same direction; I quickly rushed out thinking that he had fallen from the pole, only for me to arrive the scene and discover that he was already dead and hanging on the high-tension line,” he said.
Our source, who wished not to be named, said that shortly after the incident, officials of EEDC, Abakaliki Business Unit, were notified and they rushed to the place and removed the lifeless body from the line.
He explained: “Immediately after the electrocution, the villagers contacted the police, informed our LGA chairman and many other stakeholders who came to the scene of the incident without hesitation and ensured that the body was taken to a morgue,” he said.
Village Head of Oferekpe Inyimagu, Mr Linus Nwofe, when contacted on phone, confirmed the incident, adding that the body was taken to the mortuary by EEDC officials in liaison with the police. (Daily Sun)
