- Barely,24 hours after he presented his 2024 Budget to four out of 31 members Assembly led by Speaker,Edison Ehie , Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the Bill into law.
This makes it the quickest approriatipn Bill to pass Assembly scrutiny in the country.
Fubara, who presented the Bill on Wednesday December 13, was said to have signed the budget on Thursday at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

The Wednesday budget presentation took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt a few minutes after the state government’s demolition of the House of Assembly Complex.
The 27 other members of the House loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were not present at the sitting.
The 27 lawmakers recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fubara said the N800 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year was aimed at promoting economic development through inclusive growth and addressing socio-economic inequality in the state.
The governor said the N800, 392,485,433.01 billion constitutes a Recurrent Expenditure of 361,598,242,570.85 and a Capital Expenditure of 410,266,485,090.64.
Wike, the godfather has been on intense running battle with Fubara, his godson over the control of Rivers politics. The struggle has grown in intensity with the passage of each day.
The budget presentation and demolition of the state House of Assembly complex, were seen as strategic moves by the governor to have upper hand I the battle and consolidate on his stay as the man in charge.
