The nationwide strike declared by the organised Labour gets underway on Tuesday, some workers have claimed that labour leaders have embarked on an enforcement drive to ensure compliance.

NPO Reports earlier that the Minster of LabourSimon Lalong was to meet representatives of the Labour to halt the strike.

A source at a school in Abuja told the NPO Reports Tuesday that some officials of the Nigerian Union of Teachers had started going from school to school forcing teachers to go back home.

The teacher said the Labour leaders arrived at the government second school and demanded to know what the teachers were doing in school when there was a directive to stay away from work.

The NLC and the TUC had on Monday ordered workers to stay at home in protests against the attacks on the NLC president Joe Ajaero in Owerri Imo state capital two weeks ago.

The National Industrial Court had ruled that the strike is illegal.

Yesterday the Presidency said the strike is not in the interests of the nation.
