A Yoruba group,Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye has threatened to institute legal action against a former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his refusal to tender apology for the way he insulted Yoruba monarchs at Iseyin last week.
This is contained in a letter to the former President sent through the Olowu of Owu, Oba Professor Saka Matemilola as the paramount ruler of the former President.
It was signed by Are Oba Oladotun Hassan and Siyanbola Adekanbi President and Secretary of the group respectively.
The group stated that it’s decision to resort to take court action is a result of the refusal of the former President to apologise within the three days given him on the 16th of September.
It stated further that as the leading vanguard voice of Yoruba indigenous people globally ,it has the eternal duty to preserve Yoruba Omoluabi ethos,Royal stools and ancestral Customs and traditions of Yoruba Obaship.
“We shall further commence strict legal action at a court of competent jurisdiction for defamation and scandalous libel accordingly ” the statement reads.
It will be recalled that at the commissioning of the Iseyin campus of the Ladoke Akintola University, the former President had chastised Oyo Royal father’s for refusing to stand up and accord recognition to the Governor of the state,Seyi Makinde when he entered the venue.
