Presidential Election Petition Court on Wednesday said there is no evidence that President Bola Tinubu was either a convict in the United States nor ever forefieted a sum of $460,000 said to be proceeds of drug trafficking.
The tribunal said it could not agree with the petitioner that Tinubu should be disqualified on account of such claims.

The PEPC which is currently sitting at the Appeal Court complex Abuja held that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, failed to prove that Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was convicted for money laundering in the United States.

The five-man panel of justices led by Justice Haruna Tsammani also ruled that Tinubu had previously been cleared by the Nigeria Police of any criminal charge in the United States following an inquiry made to US law enforcement on the said matter.
The tribunal had earlier ruled in favour of Tinubu and his All Progressive Congress over allegations of rigging. The tribunal said the petitioner failed to convince it with evidence of rigging in polling units.
