Access Holdings’ employees execute development initiative in Itedo

Employees of Access Holdings PLC recently executed a developmental programme in the Itedo community of Lagos. Tagged ‘Helping Hands’, the scheme encompassed a wide range of initiatives, including a medical outreach and the distribution of essential items such as foodstuff, pre-loved clothes, and other accessories. The initiative directly benefited about 302 residents across all age groups, with a particular focus on empowering women and girls.

Through the ‘Helping Hands’ initiative, the communities received free medical consultations and care, healthcare education on topics such as menstrual hygiene practices, disease prevention, nutrition, as well as maternal and child healthcare.

Additionally, menstrual hygiene kits comprising of reusable sanitary pads were distributed free of charge to 50 young women and girls, empowering them to manage their menstrual health effectively and comfortably.

Access Holdings’ Employee Volunteering Scheme plays a pivotal role in driving social impact and community development. Through this programme, the Holdings’ employees actively contribute their time, expertise, and resources to address societal needs, while gaining practical experience and serving as positive role models in society. Over the years, the employees of Access Holdings, through the Employee Volunteering Scheme have devoted a combined 2,981,443 hours of their time in executing over 557 strategic community initiatives across the six geopolitical zones, touching millions of lives in the process.

Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Head, Group Sustainability at Access Holdings PLC, expressed her enthusiasm for the ‘Helping Hands’ project, stating, “At Access Holdings PLC, we believe in the power of collective action and the immense impact we can create when we join hands to uplift communities. Through our Employee Volunteering Scheme, our employees have once again passionately contributed their ideas, skills, and resources to address social, environmental, and economic challenges. The ‘Helping Hands’ project in the Itedo community is an example of our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.”

To scale impact in the Itedo community, the Access employees partnered with AXA Mansard, and The Made Woman (TMW).
