As the saying goes,in politics, there is no permanent enemy what is permanent is interest.. This scenario best describes the exploratory and reconciliatory meeting between supporters of President Elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and former Chairman of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leader, Chief Bode George in Lagos weekend.
The first meeting ahead of the reconciliation was held this weekend, sources told disclosed
Sources said the meeting brought representatives of both leaders into a sitting in Lagos under the aegis of the Governance Advisory Group,GAC.
“Very soon, the President Elect Tinubu and Chief Bode George will meet. We are working to ensure unity and an end to the era of bad blood” a source at the meeting disclosed
At the meeting were Orelope-Adefulire, SSA to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals, 94-year-old Justice Ishola Olorunnimbe (rtd),Chief Tajudeen Olusi and former deputy governor, Chief Abiodun Ogunleye
Olusi after the meeting said the meeting focused on how to give support to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu expected to be sworn in on May 29.
Others at the meeting were Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Chief (Mrs) Onikepo Oshodi, Gen Tajudeen Olanrewaju and Gbadebo Dallas, amongst others.
Chief Bode George, who was former Vice Chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party,PDP, it would be recalled had boasted several times that he would relocated abroad from Nigeria if Tinubu had won the election.
He said the idea of reconciliation came this month after he had met with Chief Bode George.
In his response, Chief Bode George said he was surprised when Chief Olusi mooted the reconciliation idea adding that he was impressed by his modesty.
He said he had nothing personal against Tinubu and that he was interested in anything that would move Lagos State and Nigeria forward.
When asked if he would congratulate Tinubu in his victory, he said the challenge is that his party, the PDP is currently pursuing a legal matter against the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate and that it would be abnormal for him to send congratulatory message at the moment.
Both George and Tinubu are from Lagos State. While Chief Judge had been attacking Tinubu, the other who is younger has largely ignored the attacks
