…Amaechi should go and rest

A member of president -elect, Asiwaju Ahmed TInubu’s  supporter has counseled the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to go and take a deserved rest from politics adding that All Progressives Party (APC) is dead in Rivers State.

The unnamed supporter who is an indigene of the state was reacting to a release from the ruling party’s River State chapter in which it distanced itself from TInubu’s visit to the state  on the invitation of the state governor, Nyesom Wike, to commission some projects.

“Who is saying that. Rivers APC or Amaechi’s APC?” he asked before he went on to say, ” Amaechi should go and rest because APC is dead in Rivers State.”

This may not be the official position of the ruling party on its state branch in Rivers State but it may not be too far from the thinking of the party since it’s candidate, Tonye Cole, lost the March 18 2023 governorship election in the state to Wike’s stooge who is also the candidate of The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has dissociated itself from the planned visit of Nigeria’s President-Elect, Bola Tinubu to the oil-rich state on Wednesday.

Tinubu is paying a two-day visit to Rivers State to commission a flyover and a court building constructed by Governor Wike’s administration.

Wike has declared Wednesday as a public holiday, urging the people of the state to turn out en masse to receive the president-elect.

In a statement on Tuesday, the spokesperson for APC in the state, Darlington Nwauju, described the visit as private and on the invitation of Governor Wike. He added that it has nothing to do with the APC in the state.
