Fintiri
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Tuesday evening declared the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, the winner of the governorship election in Adamawa State.
The declaration comes days after intense drama which included an illegal declaration of the candidate of the All Progressive Congress Senator Aisha Binani as the winner by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr Yunusa Hudu Ari. Ari, has been asked to be arrested by the Inspector General of Police for what is believed to be a high level of compromise of the process in the state.
Announcing the result in Yola, the Chief Returning Officer, Muhammad Mele said Fintiri of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, scored a total of 430861 while his closest challenger Binani of APC scored a total of 396788 votes.
