LAWMA returns to Lagos roads for intensive cleaning

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has commenced an intensive clean-up exercise, to clear road medians and setbacks of waste, starting from Otedola Bridge through Berger Bridge, along Lagos/Ibadan expressway, to other locations in the state.

The exercise is part of LAWMA’s efforts to keep the State clean and free of waste, and also to encourage residents to shun indiscriminate waste dumping, while urging them to support the initiative by disposing their waste properly in authorized places.

The exercise, which is expected to last several days, may slightly affect traffic in the areas, hence, LAWMA’s advice to motorists, to be patient and to cooperate with officials on ground.

According to Ibrahim Odumboni, the MD/CEO of LAWMA, “This cleanup exercise is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that the State remains clean and healthy for all residents. We urge residents to support us by disposing of their waste properly and avoiding indiscriminate waste dumping.”

He added that, “LAWMA remains committed to its mandate of keeping Lagos clean, and will continue to embark on initiatives like this to achieve its goal. We appeal to residents to cooperate with our officials on the ground and to be patient during the exercise.”

LAWMA has assured residents that the exercise would be carried out professionally and efficiently, adding that the agency would continue to work towards making Lagos State a cleaner and healthier place to live.
