Ogbeni Lanre Banjo
A former Governorship candidate of National Conscience Party, NCP in Ogun state has described the outcome of last election in the state as rather barbaric and falls short of expectation.
According to him, the winner of any election procured through animalistic behaviour, burning of ballot boxes does not deserve congratulations.
Full statement:
Late Dipo Dina, Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, our elder brother, revered Senator Gbenga Kaka and my humble self visited media houses in 2007 to denounce elections where ballot boxes were stolen and voters beaten. The thieves, then, their stewards and foot soldiers shamelessly gathered in churches thanking God for stolen mandate with their pastors who knew they were rogues blessing them.
I, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, would not witness the brutality of our people during elections, burning of ballot boxes, thuggery and downgrading of our personalities in animalistic manner and having condemned similar barbaric and degrading behavior before, then throw my conscience into the dustbin to congratulate the beneficiary of a stolen and snatched mandate under the guns. I watched Ladi Adebutu and I feel sorry for him and his health. The stolen mandate made him look like pigs that he has been breeding. Nigerians are wicked men! Wonder where triple A was. Let me make it clear. I do not support his gubernatorial ambition because he thinks money is everything. It is all about Papa yearning to be called Baba Gomina, not about competence, ability, records, and capabilities. Other than his family’s wealth, his statement in a rally in Abeokuta where he said Yoruba has ruled Nigeria before, so therefore, we must continue to be slaves of the Fulanis mirrors his empty head. Such a person can only rule in the land of the blinds. That he made several ATM cards to buy votes reflects his utter respect for criminaIity and profound disrespect for the laws of the land. It is an evidence that he is one of them. When Shina Kawonishe, a gubernatorial candidate, said in a poster that he is not one of them, I laughed. Having being in their midst, he should have known that Nigerians preferred one of them. If not, Ladi wouldn’t have been able to purchase that many votes with recharge cards and ATM.
I totally disagree with and denounce those elites sending congratulatory messages while our people are still in the hospital and the world is laughing at us, wondering what we are going to bequeath to our children and the clamoring youth. To respond to Tunde Oladunjoye who tried hard to defend his boss about Dapo’s loss in Remo North. Tunde, our people are not fools in certain respect. Your boss began widening of Iperu road from Sagamu and gbam, he stopped at his house. As the governor of Ogun State, he disrespected Remo North by not employing “gbogbo e la ma se” tactics of his predecessor to explain to the voters in that local government why he stopped in Iperu. Simple common sense. Biyi Adeleye, Dapo’s agent uncontrollably unleashed terror on their son, Solomon Osho. At least, I witnessed one.To those agbalagba who were celebrating, dancing my Egba’s local music, I pity all of you. You have failed to learn from OBJ who may be faking happiness in his old age. But inside him, he is very sad wondering why Iyabo and many of his children cannot reside in the country that he ruled for almost 11 years. He lacks morality to call anyone to order. So would you before your expiration. All of you deserve Emefiele.
