Kukah disowns impostors and carrier of fake news

Bishop of Sokoto Diocese of the Catholic Church, Bishop Hassan Matthew Kukah has warned members of the public to be cautious dealing with impostors peddling his name to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

In a statement issued Monday and signed by Rev Fr Christopher Omotosho , Director of Social communication of the Diocese,he said that several unscrupulous and unauthorized people have been using his name to collect money which runs into millions of naira for one project or the other.

The release advice that such requests should be confirmed to him on his phone number or e mail(see enclosed letter) before they make any contribution to ascertain the genuiness of such requests.

In another vein, clergy also described as fake news publication in the social media quoting him in an interview with Channels Television as saying that neither of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar nor Mr Peter Obi is qualified to rule Nigeria and that only Asiwaju Tinubu is qualified for the job.

He declared that he never used such words in the said interview adding that those interested in the interview should find the full version online.

Said he,”This piece of information should be treated as fake news as the Bishop did not comment on any of these Nigerians by names in the said interview”.
