Ekiti Deputy Speaker wins re-election

Deputy Speaker, Ekiti State House
of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu, representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency ll has been re elected for another four-year-term.
Jamiu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 4,792 votes to defeat the SDP Candidate Mrs Ologuntoye Olubunmi Anikeola who scored 2,150 and the PDP Candidate Olugbenga Olajide with 1,193 votes.

The APC in Ekiti State won 23 of the 26 Assembly seats, the SDP won two seats Ise and Ekiti East 1 constituency, Ido Osi Constituency 1 was declared inconclusive.
In an appreciation letter on Sunday, the Deputy Speaker
“thanked the Almighty God for making my victory possible. I thank you, my constituents for giving me another chance to represent you and I won’t take your mandate for granted.”

According to him, “This latest victory is a challenge for me to do more as a ranking representative in the State House of Assembly and I won’t let you down.”

“I sincerely thank the Governor of Ekiti State, H. E. Biodun Oyebanji, former Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Governor Niyi Adebayo for their fatherly love and unflinching support for me and all APC candidates. We shall continue to be your worthy ambassadors in our various constituencies.”

I thank my party leaders in the Local Government and Constituency, the various layers of Election Committees for their planning, dedication and commitment to my victory. I thank friends and associates who donated generously to.my campaign, I pray that God will reward you a million fold.

“I especially appreciate the unflinching support of Onigbemo-in- Council under the leadership of Oba Adewumi Daramola, the Oyinyosaye Igbemo II, Onigbemo of Igbemo- Ekiti. I equally thank the Igbemo Development Association under the national leadership of Chief. Bola Olowosejeje for their support.”

Jamiu commended his co-contestants in all parties, for their courage, doggedness and spirit of sportsmanship.
“Your participation has enriched the process and deepened democracy in our Constituency in particular and in our state in general. I hereby extend a hand of fellowship to you all so that together, we can make our Constituency better. It is a victory for all of us. There is no winner, no vanquished, we are all winners.”
