Police arrest gunmen out to disrupt election in Anambra

Security operatives in Anambra State have arrested five gunmen suspected to be mobilised to disrupt the ongoing House of Assembly election in the state.

A short text message by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the men were arrested in Ihiala, and four pump action guns recovered from them.

He said: “Five armed thugs were arrested in Ihiala and four pump actions recovered.

CP Aderemi Adeoye who is heading the command’s personnel on election duty was also quoted to have said that thuggery will not be allowed during the election.”

Meanwhile, there is relative voter apathy in the state as residents fail to come out to vote.
