How police arrested men in possession of BVAS

The Nigeria Police Force,NPF, has spoken on a viral video in which its operatives arrested some persons in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with some electoral materials and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made the poison of the Force known in a statement on Wednesday.

According to information available to The Eagle Online, the men were arrested at 15, Ganges Street, Maitama, Abuja.

A video also seen by The Eagle Online showed the men and the materials inside a bus with which the policemen carried out the operation, which was said to be based on a tip-off.

However, the police in the statement on Wednesday, said after contacting INEC, the men were found to be legally in possession of the materials.

Adejobi said: “Operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau, acting on a tip from residents of an area in Maitama who reported suspicious activities, visited the location, interviewed the occupants, and conducted a search on the house.

“In the course of the search, some electoral materials and BVAS machines were discovered in their possession.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission, when contacted, confirmed that the occupants of the house are staff of Emperor Technology, outsourcing engineering services to INEC, and they were immediately released to go about their lawful business.”
