Qualifies  for quarterfinal as lucky loser

Debutantes South Sudan on Sunday at the Suez Cana Stadium played a goalless draw with Uganda in group B of the CAF U20 African Youth Championship in Egypt.

That effort will surely qualify South Sudan for the quarterfinal though the team placed 3rd in the group with a good 4 points scoring 2 goals and conceding 2. That achievement is good for a lucky spot in the quarterfinal.

Uganda got a pint from their draw with South Sudan to top the group with 5 points but got the lead by CAF computation of Head to Head to Congo as both teams had 5 points scoring 4 goals and conceding 3 goals each both teams.

CAF U20: Congo draws 2-2 with Uganda

The god of Soccer refused to smile on Uganda who piled several pressures on the Southern Sudan team that kept blocking every shot or move even in the second half. Four goals, two each from both sides were scored but ruled offside.

Uganda dominated the ball possession 69-31%; having 16-6 shots at goal though both had 2 shots on target each but Uganda may need to develop tactics on conversion of corner kicks to goals as they had 8-0 corner kick advantage.

Uganda had always slammed South Sudan in their meetings beating the Sudanese 5-1 on 31 March 2018; 3-0 on 21st April 2018; goalless on 23rd November 2021 and 2-1 on 11th November 2022.

In the other group B Match, Congo and Central African Republic also played goalless.
