Except there is urgent intervention,residents of Ogun state may face acute water shortage begining from the first day of the new year as workers in the Ogun state corporation are set to down tools over unpaid three months salary.
The workers according to one of them who choose to remain anonymous,are asking for payment of salary arrears since October this year.
It was gathered that contrary to claims recently by state government that it is not owing workers,the water corporation staff are being owed three months.
The state water corporation has 545 workers of all cadres in it’s employment.
The corporation also has water stations including booster plants in thirty locations all over the state supplying water to it’s over three million residents .
The resolve to down tools and close it’s stations in the state was taken at a meeting early this week when the leaders of workers union intimate the government with it’s plight but got no responce..

sources revealed that the state government is foot dragging to accede to the workers demand because of the three labour unions in the corporation.
When reminded that the state government last week said it is nit owing workers,one of the officials who chose to remain anonymous said,” it is not true.we are being owed three months and nobody is talking to us as when we are going to receive our salaries.
As things stand today,our family has nothing to use to celebrate both the Christmas and New year. This is rather unfortunate.”
