The mother of the slain expectant lawyer, Mrs. Bolanle Raheem, has revealed she hawked oranges to train her to become a lawyer.

She spoke when the Lagos Police Commissioner (CP), Abiodun Alabi, visited the family’s residence in Ajah on Tuesday.

Bolanle’s mother wept inconsolably over the murder of her daughter by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi at Ajiwe in Ajah on Christmas Day.

“I cannot see my ‘The Law’ again. People usually call her ‘The Law’. She was taken away from me. She was pregnant with twins. She died with her glory.

“She left a five-year-old daughter behind and they took her away. On Monday, my granddaughter came to me and said ‘grandma Iju Ishaga, I saw you yesterday when you were crying. You were shouting; is it because of my mummy?

“I said ‘yes’. Then she came again and told me, Pastor Jerry said what God cannot do does not exist. So, grandma, stop crying. She kissed me on the cheek.

“Just like that, my daughter was taken away from me. Oluwagbenga (referring to the deceased’s husband), you won’t see your love. It is not easy.

“A child that I have been training since childhood; I suffered over her. I hawked oranges. There is nothing I did not do. Even her sister (referring to Enemah Faliat) knows how I suffered to train her to become a lawyer. God, please fight this battle for me,” she said.

The police command has sent its report on the incident to the Force headquarters.

It was gathered yesterday that the command in its investigation report confirmed the ASP fired the shot that killed Bolanle and that the shooting was unprovoked and avoidable.

“Because he is a commissioned officer, it is only the Police Service Commission that can take disciplinary actions against him. What the command did was carry out an investigation and the report has been forwarded to the IG who will make recommendations to the PSC.

“It’s summary dismissal and prosecution that may be his fate. It is very unfortunate that after 33 years in service, his career will end disgracefully,” said a source.
