The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a 47% increase in revenue generation totaling a sum of One Hundred and Seventy-Nine Million, Two Hundred and
Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight naira, Thirty-Three
(N179,206,288.33) in November 2022.
Customs to commence collection of new excise duties on cigarettes and beverages
This was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wada Chedi during an interaction with the media at the Command Headquarters in Katsina.
According to him, the Command also Intercepted 240 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 821 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 20 cartons of foreign macaroni, 11 cartons of couscous, 973kg of exhaust fiber catalyst, 25 bales of secondhand clothing, 65 Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit, 70 Cylinders of liquefied Petroleum Gas, 7 sacks of children wears among others.
Other seized items are; Lexus 470, SUV Jeep, Toyota Car, Peugeot 504 car, Honda accord, J5 Iveco bus, and others. All the above-listed Seizures have a duty paid value of One Hundred and Nineteen Million, Two Hundred and forty-five thousand, Five hundred and thirty-eight Naira.
The successes recorded during the period under review were attributed to the resilience and commitment of the Officers and men of the Command in discharging their duties in line with the extant
laws and regulations of the Federation.
“May I once again call upon the good people of Katsina State and the business community to take advantage of the reopened Jibia Border to conduct their trans-border business, noting that the remaining borders are still closed? Passing or attempting to pass goods are illegal due to the substantive Federal Government policy on Border closure.” He stated.
He further thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) for the provision of
the necessary working tools which have enhanced personnel productivity.
