..Says till now, God hasn’t told me election will hold next year
Fir the second time in six months, General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has reiterated his fears about next year’s election .
He repeated the statements that cast doubt on the possibilities of elections next year in what is likely to dominate debate for days to come .
Pastor Adeboye Friday repeated his earlier alert that up till now, he is not certain over the election slated to hold next year.

Speaking at the Holy Ghost service which held on Friday at the camp of the church on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye who had earlier this year made similar revelation to the congregation that he still in the dark about the 2023 general election said, “Up till now, Daddy hasn’t told me yet that there is going to be an election next year. All the same, anybody who comes to me seeking prayer, I pray for them. That’s my duty. I’m not frightening you. I’m just speaking as a pastor.
And I’m your pastor. I’m telling you that we need to pray, to thank Him for all He has been doing for us, ask for forgiveness and ask for mercy.”
His revelation was followed by a pall of silence as he dropped the message.
The message further reinforced apprehensions Nigerians have had over the much publicized elections which are scheduled to take place in February.
Many of the prominent presidential candidates of the parties had visited Adeboye for prayers.
In his April earlier declaration, Adeboye had said “As of now, I still don’t know whether or not there will be an election next year, yet. I don’t know because my father has not spoken about it yet. The reason could be in Mathew 6: 34.“
“God must have told you – some of you who are prophets, you are closer to Him (God) but is there anyone of you here who can raise your hand to heaven and say without any doubt, there will be election in 2023?. If you can, tell us, prophet.”
The nation’s electoral body Independent National Electoral Commission has declared several times it is ready for the elections.
However, the INEC had equally expressed worries over the spate of violence and insecurity in the country.
Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, had given assurances at a ceremony organised to publicly present the Strategic Plan of Action (SPA) 2022 -2026 and Election Project Plan for the 2023 general election, held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja on Thursday April, 2022.
He had said “we are aware of the security challenges and their impact on the electoral process. We will continue to engage early and intensely with the security agencies to ensure the safety of our personnel and materials, accredited observers and the media and, above all, the voters. Clearly, these are challenging times but we are determined that election must hold in 2023”.
