..Cries out to Buhari
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, had a rough day in Kaduna as his second campaign in the political capital of the North was married by thugs who invaded the venue wielding dangerous weapons and, intent on disrupting the programme.
It’s payback time, step down for me, Tinubu tells Atiku
The thugs were said to invaded the venue of the rally with swords and machetes, a development, which has since been acknowledged by the former Vice President, whose worries seems to have increased, as he is currently facing internal rebellion within the party, where some governors and influential members, have since pulled out.
Shehu Sani, a Senator formally representing Kaduna central through his Twitter handle, while Atiku Abubakar, in confirming same, also in posts on his verified social media handles, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call supporters of all political parties to order so as to forestall the recurrence of such incidents.
He wrote: “I have just received emergency reports of attacks on PDP supporters by thugs sponsored to scuttle the ongoing PDP campaign rally in Kaduna State. This is undemocratic and against the Peace Accord all parties signed up for just a few weeks ago.
“I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to call on all parties to call their supporters and members to order and to ensure that campaigns, just as with the elections themselves, are kept free, fair, and safe.”
It is not yet clear if there are casualties from the attack as of the time of filing this report, but the incident is coming hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP supporters on Saturday clashed at a rally organised by the PDP in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, which reportedly claimed the life of one person and left 18 others injured, according to the police.
