Empowerment:Uncut learning gives out N1m worth of equipment each to three bakers, grants to widows

Dewdrops Uncut Learning, 3 has given out N1M sets of equipment each to 3 bakers and grants to widows at the 3rd edition of the Dewdrops Uncut Learning Empowerment program held recently at Eko Hotels and Suites.

Winners are Ibekwe Calista Ifunnaya of Caliz Bakeshop; Emeni Michael Oghenerukewe of Reciparian Cakes and Bernadette Jarret of Dainty Delights, from China

The event was a global gathering in which bakers from around the world gathered excitedly to learn from world-acclaimed top bakers such as Omolara Olateju of VD Cakes, London, Kate Omosanyin of Kawetildas Cakes from Kaduna State, Kema Abuede of Cakes Priests from Lagos, among others.

According to the Convener, Dewdrops Uncut Learning, and Managing Director/CEO Dewdrops Cakes Limited, Mrs Ezinne Okonkwo, this year’s impactful outreach in terms of cash and equipment largesse for bakers and widows, was further enhanced and enriched by the Uncut Learning organisers’ partnership with Mr Oluchukwu Peter Eziechina of Pemac Global, Lagos Island.

Mrs. Ezinne Okonkwo, explained at the event that about 20 contestants participated in the baking contest but only 4 bakers made it to the finals.”

Her words “I do not want to give you these sets of equipment just because I want to give them to you. I want to know how you want to market your business to people and make them accept your product.

“Some people don’t like to beg, I personally don’t like to beg but when it comes to Uncut Learning, I beg people.
“So I told them to go to people and convince them to register and we are left with these four finalists of which one of them is from China”.

This edition she pointed out is special, ‘we introduced grants for widows because we are faced with a lot of travails especially this period when school fees are being paid and women are struggling hence the need for grants, she explained”.

Okonkwo speaking about the impact of the event on women that when you train a woman, you train a whole nation.

The Special Guest of Honour, and CEO Victoria Crest Homes, Mrs Ichechi Okonkwo,, who spoke on the topic : Building Resilience in your Entrepreneurial Journey” tasked bakers to invest in the relationship that they build on their journey, adding that they should build their brands to that level whereby their connections will open opportunities for them. “Finally, the Business of cake is not just cake, it is you”, she said.

Mrs Ichechi Okonkwo further explained that even though there is no formula for creativity, one can follow, check out and read about the most successful entrepreneurs as they inadvertently share the same traits.
Also, Creative Director of Cakes by Kaks R’Us, Lagos, Onome Wornu, said the Dewdrops Uncut Learning program will bring revolution to the country’s baking industry, noting it has been impacting the sector since its launch.

Mrs Ezinne Okonwo therefore enjoined government to support baking industry by reducing the duties, extra charges, and taxes in order to encourage bakers and thereby reducing drastically the unemployment rate the country is battling with.

The charity-minded Dewdrops Uncut Learning is known for its assemblage of trainers from top bakery firms globally coming down to Nigeria to train people on professional baking for quality, human health-friendly products.
