Let me first ask your permission to be patronizing in this writing. We all have a right to be sometimes. Pardon me.

Nigeria Air:Africa’s foremost Airline,Ethiopian Air  technical partner, core investor

I had flown in the Ethiopian before. That was on a trip to China where an elite group of Nigerian journalists was organized to tour Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to be introduced to the Belt and Road initiative of the Chinese government.

That tour was led by Victor Gotevbe, publisher of Diplomatic Watch Magazine, who had put up a strong recommendation for my invitation. By the way I still call him Presido for his able leadership of that diplomatic journalistic tour till date.

On the flight, we had departed MMIA about 12; 45 and arrived Bole International, Addis Ababa where most signs are commemorative of Sheba before connecting after a long wait for a long haul to Beijing. On our return journey, we flew from Guangzhou to Addis.

However I never took any notes of anything about those flights except that from Addis to Lagos return flight, there were about four male Nigerians being deported from China for drugs dealing whose conversations and confessions made me twing.

They were not known to each other but their fate united them and they flowed freely with gist of their escapades.

However, it was on a recent trip to and from Frankfurt to attend the twin events; Nollywood Film Festival Germany(NFFG) and Nollywood Europe Golden Awards(NEGA) which combines with the 20 years anniversary of the organizers, Ehizoya Golden Entertainment that I really put my mind on ET.

Very courteous staff had checked me in at MMIA and I flew inside the bowel of the Dreamliner from Lagos to Addis connecting to Frankfurt with the Cathedral-like A380-900 with a Rolls Royce engine.

It was on this trip that I really appreciated why Ethiopian remains one of the world’s best airlines with fully booked flights always. Passengers fly once only to get hooked.

To imagine that I almost did not fly Ethiopian on this trip makes me imagine what I may have missed if internationally renowned travel consultant; Ikechi Ukoh did not step in to settle my canceled reservation with the airline to revalidate my booking.

My first observation is that ET opens its check-in counters earlier than others. I observed this in Lagos as well as in Frankfurt.

Second is that it has courteous staff that treat all passengers with a human face.

A check in staff had advised that since I was traveling with Emperor Wadada, we should share seats 43. And it was a good advise.

The issues of excess luggage are so handled amicably. I looked to see a frown on ET staff faces as they discussed excess luggage but saw none. No anxiety on the passenger. No arguments. No pain.

Third of all is that ET has cabin crew that are lavish in hospitality and giving more and more of their services in happiness.

Only a few if any other airlines could deliver uncountable cups of coffee, several bottles of wines and other drinks like ET.

Charming hostesses continue to smile as they attend to all passengers including children as the kitchen and bar are forever open. Someone would readily ask for yet another bottle or cup of something and the cabin crew would readily and cheerfully supply without hues and cries that world economy is in recession.

Again stories of missing or uncarried luggage and cargo are rife these days but not on ET.

I also noticed that ET is the airline of most Ethiopians, including Eritreans, Sudanese and indeed all the countries around the horn of Africa; talk about patriotism.

But it is even so well managed that the world keys in.

Addis Ababa is a big and very busy air transportation hub for east, central and south African countries due to activities of ET.

An African airline that plays on same turf with other well established European airlines on same Star Alliance cult must be commended for doing all that it does.

In summary, I humbly submit that ET is an airline with a human face.
As an African, I feel very proud of Ethiopian Airline. I love to fly in it again. Definitely
